Unexpected Genres That Would Be Cool to Publish in YFQ

We’ve put together a list of unexpected genres we’d love to publish. The catch, of course, is that the writing has got to still be good. Please don’t send us a grocery list if the grocery list doesn’t tell a story. Don’t send us a letter to your middle school crush unless the writing is well-crafted and has a strong voice. If you’re going to send us a poem in the shape of a cube, make sure that weirdo-cool form is playing off or with or to the content. (My friend Matt once wrote a poem about the inner life of a box that was actually shaped like 3-D box and it was awesome, so don’t knock it ’til you try it). Hopefully some of the more unorthodox literary genres below will inspire you, and if one ‘em does, send your work into YFQ!

Citations matter! The following list is adapted from a list found on the Colorado State University website. It’s unclear why they had a list of genres, but whatever! See their full list here.
